Okay, this is hard work. Why in the world did I think I could do it in one day? I am tired and sore but it's raining so there ya go....instant excuse!

I screwed up and started building my nest box on the wrong side so now it's going to face a different direction I guess? DH keeps saying that it won't withstand the snow load but it's only 5x5 and I have three beams across the top. I think he is an engineer that is designing it to death.

I do have a dumb question though, the nesting boxes I have built so they overhang outside with a lid to get eggs. The box is about 20 inches off the ground, how many roosts do I need to put for them to be able to get up there? Ramp? I have no idea what chickens do so I am a bit confused about that.

Painting ideas? I was considering tye dyed or an Alice in Wonderland mural? Do you paint the inside? How do you feel about paint on bedliner for the floor to create a rubber covering?

Thanks for the help

i can answer but I thought they were good questions so i will bump you up on this busy board.

It depends on what kind of chickens you have. Some can fly, other can't. They all jump though. It'd be a good idea to put a perch in front of the entrance to the box so they would have something to jump onto instead of trying to "hit the bulls-eye"by jumping straight in the door.
