Currently I have 4 goats - they have an 8 X 20 run in shed that they all share.
So my uncle came over today and we scoped things out. But, we're not experienced chicken people.
We're going to use half of the shed for the chickens (10 in future, currently 4) and keep half for the goats, but, we are going to start the floor of the coop about 3 feet up the shed walls using supports for the floor, then my goats could still if they wanted to, go under the chicken coop - or I could just put chicken wire and let the chickens come out on the floor on bad weather days.
So the chickens coop will be 8X10 and about 6 foot tall at the long end (roof pitch) and will be about 4 foot at the short end.
I told him we'd need to cut a large window in the back of the coop which is the direction the wind normally comes from - for cross ventilation?
I'm just not sure what to do if it's even worth it to put it up off the ground, and if so - how will I clean it out under there?
Can any experienced people help me out here with ideas on how this space should be?
