Steps do sound like a good idea. Our henhouse wil be too small for an adult to step inside, but the chickens could use them. The steps might be easier to move aside or may not need to be moved ar all when I have it open for cleaning.
My dad's suggestion was to make the height smaller and so less top heavy and eliminate the need for a ramp, but I really have my heart set on making enough room for then to play underneath and put the food under the house to keep it dry. Plus, at waist height, it'll be easier to clean and easier to reach if one of the ladies decides to lay an egg somewhere besides the nesting boxes. Plus, with enough clearance, cleaning under the house will be a snap.
