I have 2 chicks that are a month old that have curled toes. I have 2 others the same age that have normal feet. They’ve been having outdoor play time in the run and I don’t think the ones with curled toes are ever going to be able to make it up the ramp into the coop. I have the Eglu Cube plastic ramp - not the previous metal version. Does anyone have any tips on how to make the ramp usable for the curled toe chicks? They won’t be needing to go in for another couple weeks so they have time but I just don’t see it happening the way it is now. I’m attaching some pictures of the ramp from the website. Really I feel like it may be difficult and slippery for all chickens but hopefully I’m wrong. This site has been so helpful thank you in advance!

She couldn’t stand or walk when I first got her. Got some advice from this site and did 2 weeks of riboflavin and vitamin B complex. Also have been splinting basically the whole month. One of her toes curls all the way under and she walks on it. Like her foot steps on her toe. 🙁 I kind of thought it was to the point where it isn’t going to get better but am still splinting. The other chick with curled toes curl in but doesn’t seem to be a huge problem for her.

Im a big fan of outdoor rubber mats on ramps. I had a hen with a bad hip but it was a big hit with all the ladies. And it helped my coop hatched chicks too.

You can cut to to whatever size you need , drill some holes in it and attach it the rungs with zip ties.
My ramp is wood so we just screwed it down.

Honestly, mine weren't very graceful at a month old. You'd be surprised how much agility they'll gain in the next couple weeks. The new ramp design is very, very good for awkward birds.

Are they any better at jumping on surfaces? You could make a series of platforms for them to use with a landing at the top to walk into the Eglu.

They can jump into surfaces but can’t perch. So as long as it’s wide enough like platforms that could work. But also great to hear you find the design a great one! Thank you!
