Hey everyone!
I'm new to BYC but hear this was the best place for help. I am looking for winter coop designs. The winter temps where I live are -45 C sometimes and in the summer it can reach 38 C. So I need a coop that can handle both temperatures. I'm only going to have 4-6 chickens so I don't need anything too big. My husband has been out of work for the last 2 years so I need to build something on a budget. I was looking at all the great designs you have on here but was unsure how to find coops that would best suit my needs. I figured the far more experienced chicken handlers here may have some suggestions. TIA to anyone who can help me find a design!

Your chickens will basically live indoor during the cold weather, so I recommend a shed. Plastic and metal sheds are inferior to wood. (I have plastic and metal sheds and finally have moved my chickens to a wood coop I built myself due to temperature fluctuations in summer.)

(You could build yourself a plywood shed, and make it whatever size you need.)

Another benefit is that if you move the chickens out you can use it as a shed!
