My chickens who are about 2 1/2 months old and were great at putting themselves in their coop at night. They have now stopped:(
Their coop is a converted shed with no windows. They are free range during the day, but would like them in at night.
I'm now wondering if they are too hot in there, but I see pictures of chicken coops without windows or ventilation.
These are my first chickens, so this is all new to me. It was so much easier when they put themselves to bed:)

Ventilation is really important. It does depend on where you live though as to how hot they might feel. But ventilation is still important because they are pooping all night long and need fresh air.
Where are they bedding down at night?
Ours aren't putting themselves to sleep until almost 9pm now because of the daylight, do you think that is part of the problem?
Consider the features of where they are going to sleep, roosts, safety cover like bushes and try to apply those features to your coop to help them feel safe in there

you need at least a square foot of ventilation per chicken, if they're no longer going in at night there's a reason for it, and too hot could very well be it.

Do they have good roosts in there, but not going in? add some vents, it certainly won't hurt. You'll need vents in it in winter too, to allow the moisture they breathe out to escape, and not settle back on them and cause frostbite
