Chicken Coops

I use horizontal nipples for my waterers. I use gamma lids for all my waterers and feeders. It makes it real easy to take the lids on and off. First one is a five gallon, second one is my brooder waterer. You can buy the horizontal nipples from amazon. If you use these, drill an 11/32 hole and screw the nipple in leaving 2 - 3 threads showing, like in the third picture. Do not screw them all the way in. Using the nipples keeps your water clean 24/7.

I will never understand the 11/32 hole size... why didn’t they spec a common drill bit that people actually have :barnie

But, I did follow the directions and bought that exact size bit, and I must say it worked perfectly.

That’s because you’re smart, :) I on the other hand ...

...tried a 3/8 first... too big and it leaked. :(

Then I used a 5/16 and just sort of “wollowed” out the hole with the side of the bit to expand the holes a tad more, and then forced the nipples in.

But the whole time I was thinking why didn’t they make this a standard size!!!:rant

All sizes are standard! Ask my DH, who has umpteen sets of every size, somewhere. then he buys another set, rather than dig out the ones he already has.
