Hello! My first name is Rezia. I cannot tell my last name! I just moved to a no HOA community, and am looking to start a small chicken settlement. If anyone has any tips, tricks, or anything like that, I sure would appreciate them! I own a horse, a dog, a turtle, and a guinea pig.
The horse is worth his weight in gold. He is turning 31 in 8 days! His name is Stormy. He is a flea-bitten gray Arabian. I love him to pieces. (He was my first horse)
The dog is five-years-going-on-six-months old. He is soooooo hyperactive! I hold my own dog training classes, so you would think he is the most polite dog around. Ha! Think again people!
The turtle's name is Dano. You would think that would be a male turtle, but that wouldn't be fun would it? He is a she! We bought her when she was as small as a quarter, and now she is as big as the diameter of a soda can.
As you can guess, I like weird animals. This animal is the only one who isn't that weird. She is my guinea pig! Beatrice is a 6 year old guinea pig that I've had for 4 years. I bought her from a lady (for free) when she was two. When guests come over, they call her Betrice! Why! It's Beatrice! Guinea pigs usually live about eight years, so she is pretty old. Have you ever seen a guinea pig swim? Even though it's the cutest thing, they are soooo scared and it breaks your heart. Look it up on YouTube and see how awesome it is!
Gotta run!

Ah....another quail lover!! LOL I keep Bobwhites. All I can tell you about building a coop is build as big as you can possibly afford. Not only because you may want more chickens in the future, (who doesn't LOL). but the ones you do have will be more comfortable. I have a small coop and I wished we had built a bigger one. But you live and learn! Make sure to build it tall so you can have tons of vents in the roof so come winter you don't have any frost bite issues. Lots of moisture builds up from breathing and pooping. It needs to rise. So lots of vents will prevent any frost bitten combs.

And make sure to build it night time critter proof! Those critters have a ton of time on their hands to get into the chicken coop to dine. So make sure to outsmart them!

Other than that, enjoy your new adventure in chickens! Quail too if you got em'!
