Our 1 year old Rhode Island Red, Ginger, is normally a hearty one-a-day egg layer. For the third time in a month she's gone up into the upstairs coop just like normal, stays up there for an hour, makes the usual racket like she's laying an egg but then...nothing. That is except for a perfect circle in the straw where she's scratched clear down to the wood. It's almost like she's "egg constipated". But then the next day/week she's fine and laying consistently. Has anyone seen these chicken "crop circles" with no egg?
