chicken dazed

    Just the oter week we had noticed one of our hens was just stareing at the water container , not thinking to much about it but later in the day she was still there stareing to make a long story short , the next morning she had died .does anyone know what would be up.

    There could be many causes. I had one like that a few months ago--her only symptom was some mild vent gleet. You would need to note the age of the chicken, look at her crop for enlargement, note any drainage from the eyes or nose, look at the vent area, and check for lice or mites, any abdominal swelling or egg binding...in short it could be anything. She could have had coccidiosis, a worm load, mites, or a respiratory virus. Some chickens just get weak and die from a bad heart, liver, or kidneys. Sorry for your loss.
