I have two 2-year old chickens that have died unexpectedly in the last 3 weeks. No symptoms of illness, one was a nice Americana and the other a Wyondotte. They died at night in their perch. They each had an undeveloped egg near them in the perch area but not in the nesting area. The only thing different I have given them is a 5-grain scratch. They have been in a new area for nearly 3 months, because I replanted the old yard and will be switching them back in a few months, only have 3 chickens left in this group. One of them is a 7 year old Americana that is still laying eggs, she is the only one that has had a flu shot.
I also have another little area that has five 4-month old Silkies, all healthy and no signs of illness. I hope they don't start dying for no reason.
I have no clue what to do or what is causing this. No more 5 grain scratch until this is resolved.
Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
