Does anyone here use horse dewormer for there chickens? I hear of people using safe guard horse dewormer a pea size amount per bird. Was wondering if any else has used it. And if so, do you give a one time treatment or for a few days consecutive?

Welcome To BYC

Fenbendazole and Albendazole are dosed by Weight, not "pea size".

Below is dosing information, hope this helps!

To treat most worms that poultry can have except for Tapeworm you can use Safeguard (Fenbendazole) or Valbazen (Albendazole). Both are given orally by weight; they do not mix well with water.

Safeguard 10% Liquid Goat Dewormer or Equine Paste (10%) dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days in a row.
---OR---
Valbazen (Albendazole) dose is 0.08ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10 days.

Here's how to give oral medications:

Ivermectin is an antiparasitic medication, its first uses were in veterinary medicine to prevent and treat heartworm and acariasis.
This is what we use for finches and budgies, we used to use it for chickens when we had them.
It works through many mechanisms to kill the targeted parasites, and can be taken by mouth, or applied to the skin for external infestations
