The new chick forum seems an appropriate place to ask this "newbie" question. I have a silkie that is nearly a year old. She is definitely a bantam (even smaller than I would have thought bantams would be) and she lives indoors. We'd like to let her out of her cage occassionally to play. I've heard you can buy them diapers that hook up over their wings??? Does anyone know anything about these? Can it hurt their wings? Are there any members here that make them as a home business? If so, could they please contact me as I'm really interested in getting one.

Lots of people here use chicken diapers. You can find them for sale in the Buy/Sell section of the forum.

I haven't used a diaper on mine but, of course they're not inside. Umm, I've seen some on My Pet Chicken and i've heard they can hurt their wings if put on wrong, i.e. struggling, so you're agitated and just shove it on. Thats obviously going to cause damage but other than that I haven't heard any damage it's done to their wings when put on correctly.

I have them..and it was quite hysterical, I can say...if. Y chicken was inside..yep they would absolutely wear them

But when I tried them on my chickens..hehehhe, they just never moved after words...just stood like statues..

They have to get use to them

I got mine form luvmychix

I think that was her name

yup. luvmychix makes awesome diapers. she makes each one specifically to your bird. I had her make me a pink camo one...here it is on my hen May.

she really didnt care about it once i got it on her. If you have a docile bird, they really dont mind it.
