I have heard about necropsies somewhat around these forums, but never knew where to take them.

Thanks for the link. It seems the nearest one is an hour and a half away from here, though. How much does a necropsy usually cost?

We took a look at the chicken, but nothing too in depth. It was kind of hard to with all the ants on her.

Every state lab system is different, a few offer services at a nominal cost or sometimes free, others can be quite expensive. Look up your lab, they should have a website with prices.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is very hard not knowing! Sounds like you've really thought of everything given the environment your chickens live in. I hope you find the answers you're looking for with the necropsy.
