Chicken Dilemma

This has been a HUGE mess. Please don't post anything that would get this topic locked, I'm not trying to be hateful in any way. I guess I just need some moral support *sigh*

My boyfriends chickens got loose and came home with babies. He had 23, so I advertised locally to sell them. The day before the ad ran, his mother had someone come out to his house and take all of them for free...

I've had hundreds of calls for the chickens! One couple is really wanting some pullets/hens, and gave me their name and number in case we got more. He decided to sell all of his hens, so I called these people back. They said they wanted them but couldn't pick them up until the first of December.

So AFTER I've sold the chickens, his mother decides she wants them and takes them! And now they are expecting me to call these people back and tell them nevermind. I am so upset about it, and not sure how I am going to explain to these people

Any advice would be great.

I would tell the Boyfriend to call the people and explain to them the situation. After all he and HIS mother are the ones that created this mess, let them fix it.

Hon, Just tell them the truth, it wont hurt them and Im sure they will understand if you tell them what happened.
If i was a person on your call back list i wouldnt get upset, this stuff happens alot when there are a few people taking resposibility for an animal/s.
I wouldnt get into a drama with your boy's mum, it will just come back and bite you on the bot!!
just get it done and dusted and enjoy yourself.
How did they come back with babies, without been taken by a pred? you must live in a safe place!

I agree. Just tell callers "I'm sorry, the chickens are no longer available." Then don't get involved with your boyfriend's chickens again. Let him handle it on his own, then there can't be a miscommunication. .

Thanks so much everyone. It was all just a big slap in the face! I have already told my boyfriend that he has to call these people; I knew better than to say anything to his mother *ha* Now she's asking me to help find homes for a litter of kittens I said no thanks *haha*

P.S. I have NO idea how the hens made it home with all of those babies!

My grandmother decided awhile back that she would help me sell of my flock of mixed Bantams. What got my goat was that I hadn't said anything to her about selling any of them. She just calls one day letting me know she has people interested and they'll be coming over shortly.

My first thought was explative!explative!explative!, but I got myself under control and politely told her that it wasn't a good time as Skip and I had just "leathered up" to get out on the Harley for a bit, then stated that I wasn't interesting in selling any of them but thanks for trying to help.
