Chicken disappeared without a trace...?

We had a bobcat issue last year, and a coyote issue this year. Best advice we found was to leave a radio playing outside whenever you're not out there. I'm not a talk radio fan, but it doesn't bother the chickens, and does seem to keep a lot of predators away.

I’m going to say probably a fox or coyote, A small bird could be preyed upon by about any kind of predator.

Thank you everybody for your replies. We still have not seen any sign of Buffy, not even up in the trees. We will keep a close lookout just in case she happens to show back, though I doubt that will happen. However, if any good has came out of this, we have decided that we will no longer let our chickens free-range our whole backyard like we originally planned. We are currently building a nice large run that will be completely enclosed, dug into the ground, etc. Though we liked the idea of having our chickens get to roam the whole yard during the day, it is simply not worth losing any more of our chickens over it.
