My finance & I have got a small chicken farm started & its my first time. We have 8 small bantams, 3 medium straight run hens, 4 babies different breeds, a rooster (possible Rhode island mix) & Rhode island red hen. all have been purchased at different times. Lost a handful due to cats next door & disease chicks from orscheln. We also have two Pekin ducks (my favs) named Goofy & Daisy. I have some concerns & questions about them so I found this site to be very helpful. I don't want to start a new thread for something that has already been discussed so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. My ducks are panting a lot & their bills & feet are very hot. I put electrolytes in the water on really hot days(but the ducks are so darn messy!). We live in southern Indiana & no farm vets close by....which sucks.

Sounds like you've got your hands busy! It also sounds like you have a lovely flock. I love the ducks in your avatar. I love the names Goofy and Daisy. I have a hen named Daisy as well. I would check out our duck area for advice on keeping them cool in the hot weather.

Always make sure they have plenty of water and shade.
 
Welcome to BYC - I would advise you to post on the duck link you were given. It sounds to me that they are overheated. Do you have a kids empty sandbox or pool you could fill with water for them? They need shade, lots of cool water (you can put ice in their dish) and if possible a water mister. Are they eating, drinking and pooping like normal?

They have a mini pond. As for shade I have pictures to post of what the set up looks like. Its all still a work in progress. My fiancé has a bad back & can only do a little at a time. Plus he has no income & Im part-time so times are hard. They eat like pigs, drink like well ducks, & poop everywhere. They do need more shade though. We have a lean-to set up but the chickens took that over plus there's the coop which is basically a shed converted into a coop.
