Chicken ear infection

Yes, I would like to see your photos.
Is it like a plug?

You mention the vet thought it was a fungus in the ear? Did they take a culture?
Yes it’s like a plug and I just cleaned it out so there’s no point in taking a picture right now if it produces more gunk in the am I will post a picture and no he didn’t take a culture he just looked at her and gave me the baytril I am just wondering if anyone else has treated a chicken ear problem with baytril and had it be effective

5 ml a day injected and the ear has yellow puss or gunk that smells I’ve just cleaned it out so I can’t take a picture right now no respiratory symptoms and she won’t let me look inside her mouth but she eats fine and acts normal just the ear infections as far as I can tell
Do you mean 0.5 ml? How much does she weigh? I would try to get the gunk out of the ears. You can use tweezers, QTips, hydrogen peroxide, and plain neosporin ointment. Baytril treats a lot of different bacteria, so it is a good drug. Ear infections can be from bacteria, viruses, and fungal infections.

i know this post is older BUT it was one of the few I came across in my search and I have info to share that may or may not be helpful to others--first, I found this video to be helpful, though a bit disgusting:

My hen is about five years old with no prior problems at all--then, with daylight savings, I could observe her in the day after I was home from work to see a lump on the side of her head. I used lidocaine spray and bought an antibacterial/antifungal spray safe to use around the eyes, sterilized my most likely tools, but did not specifically need them by the time I had help holding her for the procedure.

The plug came out mostly in one piece, my helper said she [the hen, though I am sure my helper did, too] immediately relaxed, and we were able to wash it out with follow up iodine swabs and continued spray treatment.
