I doubt it. None of my hens (or rooster) seemed to be in any distress, and also all the doors to the coop were locked, and we also have chicken wire on the perimeter of the cage so no predators could come in.

Chicken wire will not keep rats or snakes out.

And the chickens might not notice or mind the presence of a snake either. A couple weeks ago I discovered a 3 to 3 1/2 ft chicken snake (non venomous) and the only reason I noticed it was because my son was out there with me and he seen it under the coop.

Chickens didn't distress one bit, I wouldn't rule out snake especially if its time for a chick to hatch.
