Chicken eggs

So my chickens have laid a couple times but last night two of them laid on the roasting poles and the eggs broke. Any ideas on how to get them to use the nesting box more. It’s completely dark and private but they would rather lay in weird places. Any ideas

It can take newly laying pullets up to a month or so for things to smooth out.
Have they used the nests previously?

Only one has used the nesting box before the others would rather lay in the grass on off the high poles

Could use fake eggs or gold balls and put them into the nesting box or keep taking the eggs they lay and put them in the nesting box
