We had a Buff Orpington & a Jersey Giant. approximately 4 weeks ago, a hawk got the Buff. Our Jersey is reacting very strangely.. She is not going to her coop at night.. she has been found nestled in the yard, the playhouse, and on our porch. I have carried her to her coop, and within an hour she was back milling around the yard in the dark! I have tried to find her a coopmate but have had no success. Any ideas? Poor girl!

Maybe try a mirror in the coop so she feels like she's not alone. She will be feeling very vulnerable now that her flock/friend has disappeared.

I would buy her some new flock mates or borrow some from a neighbor until you get more and I’d suggest doing it quickly.

I would think she would be fearful.. she does try to come in the front door. And I allow her the oppurtunity although I'm not sure what I would do if she accepted the invitation. Haha but she seems to be wreckless by not going to the coop and even coming out of it at night time to roam he same hill where her coopmate was taken. Also I have tried finding a friend and have had zero luck. The closest thing I have found is a hatchery an hour away. Ur I don't think chicks would help her.

I'm in Chillicothe Ohio. If anyone would adopt her that would be great too. She is an amazing layer. Such a sweetheart. Will run up to us and wait on us at the door in the mornings.

Or even give me some direction to find a hen. All I seem to see on hatchery sites are chicks.
