Hello,
I'm from Northern California and when I retired about 5 years ago, I did the craziest thing and became a chicken farmer. I have about 56 heritage chickens. I wanted a variety of colors for my eggs, so I researched what chickens lay different colors and ended up buying Blue Laced Wyandottes, Easter Eggers, Copper Marans, Auaracanas,
Welsummers, Orpingtons,True Blue Whitings and many more...just to name a few.

I love seeing the differences of personalities from one breed to the other and I'm also amazed at just how smart they are. I enjoy learning how to raise them, researching the best feed, how to keep them safe from predators, and I get excited checking out new products for my hens.

I live on approximately 10 acres which allows me to garden, grow fruit trees and I especially love cooking.
We have 2 Great Pyrenees dogs that we raised from puppies. I started off as an interior designer and now I'm a chicken farmer.

It's always fun watching mynhens play and forage for food. I've even named them. Their names are quite unique.
Some of their names are: Betty White, Lucille Ball, Henrietta, and Olive Oil just to name a few. After I bought my first baby chickens, I decided that I needed to educate myself on all of the various aspects on raising chickens. I fell in love with chickens and created a FaceBook page for them. Once I was on FaceBook I found out about all the chicken groups. When I stumbled this page and learned of all of the information and expertise that I could find and share here...you became my go to choice for everything chicken.

:welcome

Hi, terrific introduction and you certainly have some beautiful egg pictures. Make yourself at home here!
Thank You...we love our hens and all of the different colored eggs they lay. When I first started raising chickens for eggs, I did some research and out about how many chickens there are that lay colored eggs. Then I found various local sources on where I could buy baby hens. It all started there.
