Hello Everyone!
My friends have all thought me a little crazy and refer to me as "Queena" because I love designer wear, shoes, and bags. Yet, I enjoy gardening and baking occasionally . Somehow, they were not surprised, when I announced that I wanted to raise chickens. I'm a proud new mama of 13, now 7 week old pullets. I'm in love!!!
My husband and I built a wonderful chicken coop....Finally after keeping them nice and toasty in our garage for weeks, My girls have moved into the coop. We now are planning the chicken run. I have already found great tips and design ideas from this site....It's driving my husband CRAZY!!! Though, I think he kind of enjoys my new hobby. ;-)

So nice to meet you Tina, nothing wrong with being in style - if you want to start a trend of chickens in your handbag, I would suggest you diaper them first. Can't you just see the celebrities hauling chickens around. Probably tiny seramas or silkies would be best.

We are very accepting and enabling at BYC, so you landed in the right place.

Hope you enjoy Backyard chickens as much as we do.

Welcome to BYC, Tina. Glad you decided join our flock. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of pullets did you get?

Good morning, welcome to BYC!

It's easy to get pulled into the 'chicken life', they are so interesting and fun to watch. It would be nice to see a photo of your girls and their coop.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have, there are a lot of friendly, helpful members here.

Thanks for joining us!

I have a great mixture: Black sex link, Barred rock, Golden Comet, and the ones that I originally was in search for and now have, 6 Americanas
All very tame. The black, wants to be held all the time. I think she'll remain my pet. :-)

I'm glad you joined our "flock!"

Congratulations on your new pullets! You chose some excellent productive breeds to start out with.

That is a great mixture. Black Sex Links are my favorites as they are friendly and hardy, egg laying machines. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds and hybrids, including the others on your list), and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. Good luck with your pullets.

Wow!!! Can't wait for those eggs.
I do love the sex links. I have named one Anna...She's so sweet :-)
