Chicken farming

Don't see anything in this thread.....maybe link another of your threads here?
I would be selling them for everything. Meat, the birds whole, eggs, fertilized eggs. Everything you can do with chickens. I'm in Indiana.

I'm in Indiana.
Put that instead of "America". ;)

How much luck have you had chicken farming? I'm looking into it and want to make it worth my while.
Do you mean make a profit after the costs of housing and feed and other supplies?
Some years I have covered my feed and some bedding costs with selling eggs.

I've sold some of all, chicks too, mostly eggs tho.
Just 3-6 egg customers over the years, depending on how many birds I had.
Have never sold to the general public, except a few birds on CL and FB.
Successful 'farm' sales would not be down to luck but a lot of hard work and marketing savvy.

Thank you! I would sell to the public. Places like Craigslist and FB.

I raised 80 cornish x this year, kept half and sold the rest...after paying for feed and paying $5 per bird to have them processed, I made enough money of the sold birds to basically have 40 in the freezer for 'free'. Eggs and chicks, haven't sold any yet, but I'm thinking I'll make enough to cover the costs of keeping the animals. The hens and chicks are mostly just a hobby, but it does pay to have meat in the freezer.

Sold to friends and family... I'm not sure of the rules, I'm a rebel. Let me know if you find out.
Well, I don't live in Canada....was more curious and it's something that @AidKD should think about if selling to the public. Need a USDA processor and your storage freezers inspected.
