Chicken Feathers

I do not think the exposed skin in normal.

I am beginning to think that excessive heat promotes dumping of feathers to extent skin is exposed. This assumes parasites or nutrition not cause.

I've seen some pretty ugly molts in my time. Some chickens never look bad and some look awful. I've had a couple that looked worse than that when they were young. In later years, their molts were more gradual. They were also really broody the first year or two, then they stopped with that, too.

It makes me wonder if some of the really bad molts are when they have more hormonal activity going on. Like the way acne is more of a problem when people are dealing with a lot of hormonal changes.
