I was feeding country road layer feed from rural king. After several times having mold at the bottom of the bag and Rural King being out I switched to the Nutrena Layer feed. I have also gotten the Kalmbauch Hen House Reserve that I use to sprinkle on top or mix in every so often. It was going very well until a week or 2 ago. Egg numbers all over the place. One day it's 16, next 12. I have 20 hens, but usually one is broody. I'm assuming some just lay on odd days. Worst day so far has been 6-7 that didn't lay. I'm beginning to think something is up or they are laying them somewhere else. Haven't figured it out yet. I do have a Mycoplasma positive flock, so I know that and weather changes can affect things. Yesterday they seemed exceptionally hungry as well as very wary. Maybe a predator was around. They free range during the day. Overall, I'm just making sure they are happy until the culling in the fall. In the fall, planning on "taking a break", clean and disinfect, and rebuilding before I start over.
We also feed Kalmbach non GMO all flock, 20%. Chewy.com if your feed store doesn't carry it. You can have it auto-scheduled and never have to worry about ordering or running out.
