I a new to chickens but in the cattle business and moving into the hog business very soon. I am posting because I have a weird question. In my off hours, I volunteer at a peanut butter cannery ( I run the thing with about 4 others) for the sole purpose of making and giving away peanut butter to food kitchens etc. We do about 900,000 jars a year. It is a big freeby operation.
I have been collecting peanut butter hearts that make great cattle feed however I have so much I am wondering, if mixed with corn, would it be a good chicken feed? I figure, grind the corn and mix 50/50. The hearts are 27% protein and should be good for something.
Thoughts??

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan :D

You may be able to balance a diet out using the peanut hearts, but mixed with only corn it would be very high in fat calories, and probably deficient in vitamins and minerals.

I know some people want the hearts to feed directly to the chickens. I do not plan on mixing a bunch of stuff just so I can give it away. I guess I was lookin for a good place for it to go. Chickens may not be the place.
Tks,
