A few weeks ago I saw a chicken feeder that someone had built that the chickens stood on to open the top to feed. It kept the nuisance birds and mice out of the feed. I can't recall where I saw it. Does anyone have a link I can use to look at this cool feeder again? I am currently feeding a million tiny birds along with my sweet hens. It's getting pretty costly.
Thanks!

Never mind. I found it

I have the same issue! I have to stand near the feeder while my chickens eat their breakfast and dinner (they free range in between) to make sure they actually get some. Between the rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, quail, and other birds, they chase the chickens away from the feed and the water! The rabbits and quail also steal a lot of my hay, my husband was shooting 5-10 rabbits a day and the population was still outrageous. Living in the desert, any food or water source attracts every wild animal in the area. I'd be interested in a feeder that keeps other birds out, if it's even possible to do so. I can't leave food out in my pens for any of my animals because of the wildlife.

I would be scared of one chicken standing on the step and all of the other chickens just eating away, then that one chicken that is standing on the step get off and all of the other chickens heads get hit because the chicken holding the top up moved. With my chickens that is what would happen. Great idea though, just wouldn't work with my chickens.

My ladies just started to catch those little birds that fly in to eat there feed. Found two they caught and ate.
