How much feed does a chicken eat in a day? Can they just eat chicken feed, oyster shells, and grass or do they need fresh fruits and veggies everyday?

A chicken can do perfectly well on chicken feed and water.

The amount it eats depends on the size/breed and age.

An egg breed at 20 weeks will eat about 0.15 lb per bird per day.
A meat breed at 20 weeks will eat 0.4 lb..

If they waste any you may go through twice as much.

Bantams will eat less.

Rather than grass, they prefer more succulent greens like clover, alfalfa, turnip greens, radish, sorghum, buckwheat etc. as well as fruits and tender vegetables.
