chicken feet

I was looking at the bottom my chickens feet and there was some dirt wedged in between their feet like on the bottom of their foot and so I peeled the dirt off and it started to bleed does anyone know what that is?

Did you ever figure out what this was? I have a chicken with the same problem! He limps a little and the skin on the bottom of his feet are peeling. He also has cracks that look like they have bled on his legs. I wonder if this could be the after effects of frost bite?
