I wanted to introduce myself I'm located in Ct and new to the whole backyard chickens. I have 13 layers as of right now and the 14th my Buff Polish( Road Runner) won't be laying until October. The breeds I have are Americana's I have 5 of those they seem to be my favorite breed as they offer egg coloring variety and breed coloring. I also have a barred rock/ partridge rock/ black sex link/ jersey giant/ speckled sussex/ cuckoo maran/ gold laced wyn/ buff. I've noticed as they just started laying that my jersey giant( Happy Feet) is pretty calm and laid back but my partridge rock( Doug) and cuckoo maran (Cocoa) can get pretty nasty they'll actually start pecking at the other girls as they are laying. Yes I know some of the names. I also have kids and they are the ones that have come up with some of the interesting names.. lol Eventually myself and my friend will be breeding our chickens. She started with 4 that were given to her and then added more in March. She also has 4 Roo's So we will have some interesting breeding to come up with.. I also have been looking into making up my own feed for my girls. Oh I also have ducks a pair of Pekins which have to say can be bully's and a pair of Rouens and a male Indian Runner. All those we are breeding also. I plan on adding 6 more layers in the spring so I'll have a total of 20 layers by this time next year. Basically all I wanted was 4/6 chickens and ended up with 14 and now am adding more.. I pretty much have chicken fever.. Joining this group I'm hoping to get a lot of good advice and tips for a healthy flock.

It sounds like you have a nice mixed flock and your egg basket will be colorful. Chicken math strikes again, lol.

In case you haven't found it yet, there is a duck forum you may enjoy:
