I think our 5 month old pullet tried to squeeze between pallet boards that she used to be able to fit through. Under her wing and down to her shank, the skin and feathers are peeled off. No noticeable bleeding. She was still walking around fine. I brought her in, sprayed the wound with poultry wound spray, and tried to lay the skin back in place and wrapped her body to hold it in place. What else should I do?

I understand completely. When you change the bandage I would suggest taking photos next time so we can better help you.

Did you happen to flush or clean the wound before applying the wound spray? I'm guessing you use vetricin would spray?

Also did you see it happen? Do you have a rooster/cockeral? In my experience side wounds are often caused by a clumsy rooster/cockeral or a pullet/hen struggling while being bred.

I don’t think we have any cockerels. And if we do, I’ve not seen any attempts at mating. I suspect she tried to squeeze between pallet boards to get into the compost bin. I am almost out of vetericyn. I have a non stinging, tee tree oil poultry wound spray, can be used on open wounds. It was very clean looking, so I didn’t flush it. I was thinking wet feathers would make bandaging harder.

take the bandaging off please the air needs to get at it you can use neosporin no pain killer only please

Even if the skin is hanging? I put a bandage on to try to keep the skin from dragging on the ground, and her from
Picking at herself.
