I would switch to a Layer blend or an all flock. That is pretty high protein and is intended for the cornish X meat birds, or as a starter for ducks, and gamefowl. The 18% would have been more ideal for them.

Would I still need oyster shells on the side?

If your on Layer feed with highly productive layers like leghorns, Rhode Island, and hybrids, yes it is a good idea. For your Brahma's I wouldn't think it would be necessary.

If your doing the all flock then you definitely need it.
