So there's these people on our road who have a few chickens...I love seeing the chickens free ranging almost everyday and they look so pretty! They have a couple Rhode Island Red hens, one or two Red Star hens, and a small white/cream Bantam chicken (not sure on breed). The white/cream Bantam hen is so small and cute!
lol
Well, this morning I was driving to school when I saw something lying in the road...As the car got closer, I knew that it was what I had thought it was when I saw the little orange feet and the feathers spread everywhere. It was one of the Rhode Island Red hens and it must had been hit by a car or something.
Poor hen! It just makes me so sad. On my way home it was gone but there was a clump of feathers and stuff where it had been. The owners there have been known to not be very good owners...they just let their chickens run everywhere (in the road, in other people's yards, etc.) and I've always felt bad for the hens. I don't know how hat happened because last night I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that it wasn't there. So maybe that hen didn't get put in the coop last night???
And I'm not sure but I may have an idea of who may have done it. There's this older high school guy who just got his license and owns a big truck and is always drunk...he's just not into the best things right now.
I'm not saying he did, but it seems like something he would do to go and purposely run over a chicken crossing the road because he would think it was funny.
Just like how I've heard of a story that someone saw a group of baby turkeys and their parents crossing the road and some guy came speeding over and purposely ran them over with a big smile on his face.
Again, I don't know, if this guy did it, but it would really make me mad if he did and it's something I know he would do if he happened to find a hen crossing the road.
