Chicken garden

If my garden doesn't work I will plant on the outside thankyou for the help
Best of luck! I so would like to do this, although I'm planning on planting vines etc up the outside.

Just on a whim, I do have a forsythia, still in its original bucket from the nursery, sitting inside a decorative pot and surrounded by welded wire inside the run. The girls have been working for several weeks now to get in, both digging from below and trying to fly up and grab blossoms through the wire. Meet Fort Forsythia and one of the girls' periodic assaults:

Good luck with your chicken garden. I'm researching and creating a quail garden. At the moment I'm growing corn, calendula, oregano and thyme in a little plot for them. As others have said already it might be more successful if you plant around the outside of the coop. The plants will have a better chance of survival outside of the coop. Good luck. I'm going to keep an eye on this, see of I can get ideas and guidance for my quail garden.

I have read that peppermint, rosemary, thyme are also really good. Sunflowers are also an awesome choice. If you have any pots, place a few bricks on the soil, so weeds can come up, but they can't scratch at the plant roots. Or creating a cage with chicken wire or hardware cloth is also good. You are in to something there! I have also seen climbing plants like a vine or grape leaves, but do the research on that. I have also read that clover is good, but only the white kind, others can be poisonous. Funnily enough I have a ton of hostas, lambs ear and salvia's in my flower beds and they leave those alone.
