I have a chicken who is getting attacked every day. Not light pecking, the other chickens are jumping on her and knocking her down. She also turned Broody 5 days ago. It is so bad, I put her in my pen with my 1-month-olds, and she seems good and very content. She's eating and drinking, but also sitting around like broodiness. There is plenty of room for her to move around. She is also either partially or all blind. I can't tell because she gets around and knows where the nest was, and when I am around her...her eyes have a white film over them.
Is it ok to keep her in a pen that is completely see-through (Just netting on all sides), away from the other chickens for her life span? She doesn't seem lonely. I am introducing 10 new chicks in a month and in August, giving away the birds attacking her...but until august can she be separated alone, if she can "see or sense" everyone?

I feel horrible for her, she is very sweet.

Yes, she will be more than fine than being attacked. She can watch and 'be' with birds without getting eaten alive, very definitely better for her.

I kept a new rooster for a couple of months because I was not quite sure if he was molting or had some dreadful disease and my flock was too young. Months later I turned him out, and he followed the girls home.

Yes chickens like being in a flock, but people worry about it too much. They are not going to die if they are kept alone. If they can get outside, get food and water, those things keep them healthy.

Always. solve for peace in the flock.
