Good evening, just wanted to get some insight into my chickens behavior. I have 6 silkies/satins. My black silkie (Poppy) is the only one that kind of just..wanders off and goes to sleep. Everyone else goes into the coop, and she does too some nights. But two different times within the last week I found her sleeping in her run, while everyone else was inside. And tonight I found her in the middle of the yard (the run is open when I am home). Not even really close to the coop. I go out every evening to check on them and make sure everyone is accounted for, so I’m always catching her when she does this. Just wondering if there is a reason for it. Thanks!

Her age might have something to do with it. Mind letting us know how old she is?

Mind telling us how she's treated by the others?

Also, your climate could have a bearing on this. Hot cold? Mind letting us know your location? We could research your locality for reports of serious disease. Your location could give us a hint as to molt being a factor.

Her habits might be a clue. Mind telling us what her diet consists of and if she spends time scratching around outside the run?

Her laying history could possess a clue. Mind telling us what her history is? Soft eggs? Thin shell eggs? No eggs? And has she recently been broody?

Have you checked her crop for unusual fullness? Or is it flat and empty all day? Is she losing weight?
