I posted this a few days ago. Baby chick 3 mos got hit in head. She's still alive but has so many problems. Happen wed morning and yesterday she stood up 4 times when I was petting her! She's a fighter. Been giving her water with vitamins and tryed just a little chick starter mixed up too. Does anyone know of something else that I can give her. I done think she can open beck herself yet. I was wondering about baby food? And both eyes are really messed up, they were swollen real bad and 1 still is. There's like a protective cover on them. I'm thinking in she makes in she will be a handicap bird. But she's my granddaughters and I will take care of her, she's so special. I have to go to work so I will check this later! Thank you for any suggestions and help!

Is three months the age of this bird? Is it able to stand without falling over when you place it on its feet? Is the head straight and not twisted off center?

Is there any discharge from the eyes? Any sign of waxy pus leaking from the eyes? The "film" may indicate blindness.

What was the bird hit with? What were the circumstances?

Hi there, sorry what has happened, when any of mine have been lethargic i
scramble an egg, and add a TBLS spoon of fresh liver through a blender, then mix it with egg. Also plain yogurt is good with a bit of chopped up fresh parsley, as for her eyes,
bathe them in saline water, then add eye drops every few hours, oh before you add,
eye drops wash them first, every time. I know she has been hit on the head, but i
would see how she goes. Poultry Nuti drops/ Nuti-drench/ are brilliant if you have them.
It is great even if your girl is handicap, you will also take care of her, as she is your daughters. I am sure you have common sense, not to see her suffer though. And if
there is not much hope, at all for her, then you will end her suffering. But at least you have given her a chance. Good luck. :love

Put some KY lubricant on both of her eyes and watch them and see if she opens up her eyes. Also wash off her eyes before you put the lubricant on her eyes if you have any. Keep feeding her foods like scrambled eggs, cooked oatmeal ect. and give her water if she can't drink. If you need to as a last resort take her to a veterinarian who works with small animals & large farm animals. So sorry your chick got injured. Good luck and prayers coming her way!! :yesss::yesss:

She's 3 mos, and hit in the head with a full heavy water bottle. Her mom was killed by animal, and she started to follow my daughter around like a puppy. She was under foot when bottle slipped out of her hand and hit her hard in head. Hit her beck and head, her eyes got huge and blood came out of crack on beck. I pul a ice bag on head, where I thought she got hit. Her head was going to side, but is straight now. She can stand without falling for awhile then slowly sits down. She's drinking with my help and eye dropper. After 3 days she has improved a lot, we thought she was dead. There no discharge from eyes.

Thank u, I want to give her every chance to get better. I've had chickens for years and have never had this happen. And this little chick was like a little doggie, and so sweet. If she lives and handicap I will take care of her but your right I dont want her to suffer anymore!

Thank u so much, your all so great to help me! I've never had to deal with this before. It just makes me so sad to see her!

That's possibly a miracle. Chickens can be pretty fragile except when they manage to survive something like this. Then they are tough and resilient.

When a chicken shows such remarkable improvement instead of declining as one would expect in a situation such as this, you have every reason to believe in a full recovery. Keep doing what you're doing.
