Chicken got up from her eggs

My chicken had been sitting on her eggs for 16 days and today decided to stop. It's been several hours now since she's gotten up from her eggs. Any idea as to why? Should I be concerned? Will she return and is there anything I can do to make her continue? Please let me know!

They do that sometimes, although I'm not sure why. I had a hen leave the eggs 3 days before hatch day.

She may go back to them and they'll probably be ok if she does. You could close her up with the eggs and see if that helps, but it's hard to keep a hen on eggs if she doesn't want to be. Hopefully, she's back on them by now and all is well.

What is your climate? Putting your location in your profile can help folks give better answers/suggestions.

If it's very warm/hot where you live, her leaving the nest for longer than usual should be ok, she knows how warm to keep the eggs.

A broody hen will and should leave the nest at least once a day to eat, drink, stretch her legs and maybe have a dust bath.

She never went back on the eggs. I found an incubator. We'll see what's gonna happen. Thank you.
