Welcome from Alabama!

You need to read my very first post on this board.....I had pretty much the same mindset as yourself when it came to chickens. Now, I just want more of them.

This forum is a great place for info on everything chicken-related, so you have come to the right place. I wish you luck. My wife and I are new to this, too (only had chickens maybe two months now), but it has been a wonderful experience so far. We are anxiously awaiting the first egg!

Hi, Tonya. I'm in Rome, GA, way on the other side of the state, near Alabama. I lived in Athens for a few years, but not as a UGA student

We were recently in the Anniston area (passing through the general area going to Talladega). You may have your chickens listed in your signature, but what kind of chickens do you have? I have 8 Black Australorps ordered. They will be hatched at the hatchery in about 10 days.

Floyd Co., GA, near the Alabama border in NW GA. Rome is in the middle of the "triangle" that forms between Atlanta, Chattanooga and Birmingham.

Fannin Co.--that's a beautiful part of the state. I love the mountains.

Ok, you're in the hot part of the state, next to south GA, that is. The flatlands are so steaming in summer and Rome always seems to be so darn toasty! I like my cooler nights, but almost went to Shorter College. My grandfather had a farm in Carroll County and we have many members around your area.

Rome/Floyd Co. sits in a natural "bowl" and the heat settles here in a big way! I went to Berry College, moved away, and moved back for a job 10+ years ago. I have to drive to Carrollton every 3 months for my son's dr. appt. I love it here!
