Chicken has a swollen, tight abdomen and she pants at night. Help!!!!!!

Thank you so much. We are not sure if she has ascites. It seems like it but we hope it is something that you can cure!! My sister did read somewhere where the herb ibright and brewers yeast can cure ascites in humans so it would probably work for chickens too. Do you think we should try it??? Hope we can cure her. Does anybody have any thoughts?

I'm wondering if I need to drain this?

I've never had any thing like this.

You are very rude.

I have started my own thread. I did not hijack this thread, I was asking if this was the same thing their hen had.

Why do people have to be ugly.
Instead of helping a fellow chicken lover.

Again there is no reason to be rude.

Hello! Our almost 2 year old golden comet has a very tight swollen abdomen and she pants at night. We tried a warm water bath and we gave her brewer's yeast for ascites. She is very active and she does run/walk around. She waddles because her abdomen is so swollen. We have tried a few essential oils for constipation and such but she seems to be getting tighter. She does not have anything coming out of her vent and when she does go to the bathroom, barely anything comes out. Thank you so much!

Oats will sometime get hung in the digestive track. Ive also heard of other things getting lodged. She needs plenty of water and sometimes it will pass thru but usually nature takes it course :(
