I once found a hidden nest with 24 eggs!
They can be very tricky and creative with where they hide eggs.
Always a thought to consider.

I had a similar situation as what you are going through. I got a day old Black Australorp last March and she didnt lay her first egg until February of this year so it took her almost an entire year for her to begin laying. I was beginning to think she was a dud but many forum members here suggested she would begin laying as Spring rolled around which is what ended up happening.
