I need advise! My chicken have seen a chicken hawk or one was trying to get after them in the run. They were all hiding in the tiniest places in the coop.
My chickens will not come out of the coop into the run. Will it take time or is there something I can do to get them to come out into the run? Our coop is pretty secure because we have fox near by also.
I have seen the chicken hawk fly away from the area

You need something stronger than chicken wire on your run because that will not protect from many animals, especially a fox. If I were you I would double layer it or redo it with hardware cloth.

As for getting out your chickens, try bringing some in to the run and maybe put some treats in to!

I noticed you are a recent new member. :welcome :frowThe sides of your run I noticed you are using welded wire with what looks like chicken wire on top. I think you are fine. I would suggest chicken wire around the sides too, but other than that to me you run looks fine. Is the metal along the sides buried in the ground? Unless you actually have a kill I think all looks fine since you do have the metal along the bottom. Good luck...

Yes the metal is buried in the ground also!

I have a predator proof coop and run. I also have a rooster that will place himself in the coop chicken door and make sure the flock stays inside if a predator is around. Predators can add stress to the flock and they may stop laying for some time. My coop is large enough that I will shut the flock up in the coop to lessen the stress. I wouldn't force them out until they are ready but I would make sure they have food and water where they are staying.

I have several coops and lots of pens. I do have my pens covered but I used a good heavy duty netting (not cheap) but it works. I do have electric wires around my coops and pens as well and concrete under the gates. I do have welded wire and chicken wire. All was done because of prior loss of birds from predators. Again, good luck...

I was going to mention in a previous post. If you have a game camera, put it up. When I originally put up a camera I was surprised at the predators that roamed around here especially at night. A couple of nights ago a bobcat was lurking by my chick/grow-out coop. I do have electric wire but not a very powerful fence charger so for now I close the young birds in their coop at night.

I have had hawk attacks & the birds run in the coop & hide in a corner. They will come out to eat & drink, in couple hours. I seen in my notes Nov. 7,2018 our rooster Victor saved his girls as he was attacked. Sad time. I posted a pic. Victor
