Chicken hawks

There seems to be a pair of hawks that think my chickens are their dinner plate, What is a good thing to get rid of hawks, (besides a bullet)?

In reality the only thing that works 100 % is an effectively covered pen.

Bullets can be expensive if you get caught killing them. They are protected.

A covered run is your best bet.

Yes. Its illegal to kill a bird of prey( falcons, hawk, eagle, even those nasty buzzards). As another poster stated, its expensive if you are caught killing one because the fines are enormous. You can also spend time in jail depending on the curcumstances. Covering your pen is your best option. Unfortunately, owning livestock, even chickens, means there will be losses in some manner. We just have to do the best we can to protect them the best we can.
