Chicken heaving and gargling after surgery.

My 6 year old Americana hen just got out of surgery for being eggbound. When she was brought out to us she was heaving quite a lot almost looking like hyperventilating and it sounded like she was gargling. It worried us the whole ride home, but when we got her settled in a warm comfy spot she slowly stopped and now she's resting and relaxing.

What I am wondering if what she was doing is normal for chickens who were put under anesthetic.
