I've got a white Cochin sitting on 6 Bourbon Red turkey eggs. When they hatch I want, of course, to start them on 30% turkey starter but that means my chicken hen will be eating it, too. Is that okay? I've never hatched out turkeys - first time with turkeys period. Normally when I have a broody chicken with chicks I keep a feeder of chick starter. But can I do that with Turkey starter, too?
Any other advice you can give me on raising poults this way would also be much appreciated ;-)
Thanks in advance!

Turkeys need around 30% protein chickens from around 15% to18 % think of it this way the turkey starter is like miracle grow to a chicken.
a grown chicken you may want to watch that they don't put on to much weight but for Chics it is miracle grow they will grow fast and big.
I have chics of the same age as my BR Poults they remind the Poults to eat and drink and get along very well the Poults are more layed back than the chics.
Do not allow a Poult to eat medicated chicken starter I have read that the medication is not good for the Poults and eating the lower protein food is a waist the Poult would have to eat twice as much to get what is needed.

I hope this Helps
