Chicken humming/ screaming with mouth closed

The best I can describe it is them humming or screaming with closed mouth I've first experienced it with my game bird but now more of my chickens do it I'm not sure If I've heard my hens do it but I know for a fact it's my roosters when I do my impression on it they do it back I'm still learning what noises they make and what it means but does anyone have a answers for this??

I just tried but I couldn't because first off he isn't in much of a mood to do it I guess but when he did it back to me he stops as soon as I stop

Usually contentment, like a cat purring or just a thinking noise.

Or if it's a fairly high-pitched noise it could be an aerial predator warning - hawk, vulture, crow, airplane overhead. You can search for videos to see if they match your sound.
