Hi everyone!
I bought a mystery bag of bantam eggs from the internet and in it came my favourite chicken: Football Chicken (her nickname is Footie)
we named her that because even when she was a chick she was large and round and like a football.
Since she’s grown older, she’s got quite an impressive rosecomb and she lays absolutely massive brown eggs every day, almost without fail.
She is also the greediest chicken I’ve ever met and will stop at nothing to get snacks. She’s also super friendly, runs to you as soon as you set one foot out the backdoor (although this is probably due to wanting snacks) but is also super friendly, enjoys a cuddle and does that weird squat submissive thing every time you go up to her.
The reason I’m asking is because I was getting sad the other day that we will never have any baby Footies because she won’t mate with any roosters (her only fault but who’d blame her!?).
Then I thought, hey maybe her personality and massive eggs are just traits of her breed? Her comb is quite unusual looking which might help. I’ve done loads of internet sleuthing but I just couldn’t figure it out so I thought I’d put it to you guys. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Sarah
