Chicken in nesting box but no egg

My Rhode Island Red has not laid egg in over 1 year. Today I went to check to see if I had any eggs, and found her in a nesting box. I got really excited thinking she was laying an egg, but there was none. What could be wrong with her?

i need to know if she walks normal. she may be egg bound, which can be fatal. her having been in a box is a bad sign

Oh gees. I've watched her and she seems to be normal, no problem walking. She does seem to like fresh food more than the crumbles and meL worms. She is 3 years old, and I was told by the people that gave her to me, that she stopped laying around a year ago. That's why I was excited to see her in a box.
