We have one barred rock that the dog decided to really rough up. Her neck was really torn and she was really not a happy hen at all. I took her to a local farmer and he put pine tar on her wounds. She was quiet and kept to herself for a couple of weeks but has made a full recovery!She has become one of my most feisty hens.Pine tar, I am told has healing agents that help with horses hooves.The farmer told me that it also stinks pretty bad so the other hens would leave her alone.And it worked!!She has also started to grow new feathers.I have since bought my own can of pine tar and keep it handy for any other injuries.
